Curriculum Vitae

In the past years (2020 - 2023), I have delivered over 50 webinars, workshops, invited presentations and keynotes on the subject of TESOL career path development (both general and specific subtopics).

Detailed descriptions of all of the following appear in the pages denoted here:

My professional interests: How teachers manage change; English language teachers’ career path development includes emphasis on five factors shown by research to impact how teachers evolve as they progress through their careers: education, motivation, leadership, organizational issues (language teacher associations and employers), and life balance. Managed as either a broad overview or one or more (up to these five individual ones), this topic will be of interest and value to teachers worldwide in these changing times.

I lead human resource development and capacity building projects. With training, support and guidance for international teams, projects are created to increase institutional capacity, including design, implementation and evaluation of in-classroom courses and assessment, online instructional programs, extra-curricular activities and job training. I have managed programs in 20 countries, including a wide range of professional development and youth programs. Her record of results includes compliance with accreditation, financial and reporting requirements, all of which involve crossing national borders and leading a wide range of program types and stakeholder needs.

Carefully designed assessment of needs often makes the difference between actual change in the way teachers instruct learners and simply seat-time in a teacher training workshop. Impact is the focus of teacher education. Creating a teaching culture in which teachers themselves engage first in deep identification and analyses of their needs, it is possible to transmit that culture into a classroom setting – online, face-to-face or hybrid.

Online language teacher education is an essential component in today’s world and one that requires depth and breadth of analysis and understanding in order to deliver high-quality teacher education and English language instruction. With emphasis on research and practice in online learning, teaching and program administration, this topic has a direct impact on how well learners – all ages and all levels of proficiency - acquire English in classrooms, online or in hybrid settings.
